| They say | the Than-Bauk is a three line poem of Burmese origin which climbs throughout the lines, as a witty saying or an epigram. The three lines may form the first stanza in a longer poem, where each stanza is written in the same way. They say the Than-Bauk should be in three lines of four syllables each with the rhyme on the fourth, third and second syllable of each line respectively. So the poem is not metered.
